Mrs. Willie M. Kinney, age 96 of Sugar Hill. Georgia passed away Friday evening October 14, 2016 at Vitas Health Center in Duluth, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Forest Kinney and her three brothers: Doyle, Carl, and Bethel Ashburn, nieces Carlotta Henry and Linda Gail Gaccetta and nephew Richard Ashburn.
She is survived by her son Charles Ashburn and his finance Jane Vaughn. She is survived by her only sister Jewell Gentry of Dayton, Ohio. She was further blessed by having the following nieces and nephews who remember her loving kindness with fondness: Kristen MacKenzie and husband Mike, James Gentry and wife Diane, Bobby Gentry and his daughter Jennifer, Randy Ashburn and wife, Carol Farr and husband Neil, Doyle Ashburn and wife Janet, Betty Thompson and husband Tim, and Sharon Claus.
The family would like to personally thank Kristen and Mike MacKenzie for their unselfish time and effort spent caring and attending to her needs over the past month and all the love given by them to her over the years.
The family also wishes to acknowledge the dedication and care shown to her over the years by her neighbors Valerie Sewell and Jenna Kopp
She lived a wonderful life and was loved by family, friends, and neighbors. Her recent illness occurred suddenly and she passed away peacefully after a short stay in the hospital.
Ms. Kinney was born December 6, 1919 in Cumberland Cty Tennessee to Ruben and Myrtle Ashburn.
She moved to Dayton. Ohio at the beginning of WW11 and became a coil winder for Master Electric and worked there 21 years until the factory moved and she then went to work for A.O. Smith Co. and remained there for 17 years.
She moved to Sugar Hill, Georgia in 1995 and became popular with neighbors and friends as a seamstress. Her skills were extraordinary and was in demand for years to make draperies and children s clothes.
She will be missed by many. There will be a memorial remembrance at her home in the very near future and her son will contact friends and family when this event is scheduled. She will be buried with her Mother and Father at City Cemetery in Cookeville, Tennessee.
