Walter Waid Obituary

Walter Howard Waid, 71 years old, Cartersville, GA went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2018.

Walter was born on October 13, 1946 in Birmingham, AL. He graduated in 1965 from Hewitt-Trussville High School. He began his career with South Central Bell in 1967 and he retired from AT&T in 2002. In the years following his retirement, he enjoyed travelling the country with his wife, Linda, as a commercial truck driver.

Walter also served in the Air National Guard, the Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard for 28 years. While in the military he served as a Clarinet Player and Logistics NCO in the 313th Army Reserve Band in Birmingham, AL.

Walter enjoyed music throughout his life, participating in community bands and local groups. He also had a talent for writing and wrote a sports column for the Rockdale Citizen Newspaper.

He was preceded in death by parents, James Howard Waid and Margie Rebecca Johnson Waid, and brother, Gerald Edward Waid. He is survived by his wife, Linda Beasley Waid, and children, Tracee Waid Binion (Terry), Scott Howard Waid (Trina), and Rebecca Waid Kirbow (Jeff), grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Binion, Abigail Rebecca Binion, Alexander Waid Binion, Alan Harper Binion, Emily Lauren Kirbow, Elizabeth Tracee Kirbow, Grant Howard Waid, Virginia Jewell Waid, his brother James David Waid (Suzzane), brother Stephen Lee Waid (Debbie), sister Martha Waid Giles (Tommy), former wife, Jane McKinney Waid, two step-daughters, one step-son, eight step-grandchildren, and three step-great-granddaughters.

Walter will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery on March 7, 2018, at 11:00 am EST.
