Victor Wainscott Obituary

Beloved Dad, Granddad & Brother

Victor (“Vic”) Lewis Wainscott was born on Nov. 3, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, the middle child of four to Emma and Jack (Estell) Wainscott. He was named for American victory during WWII, and at age 2, Vic tragically lost his father to a heart attack. He was raised by his mother, Emma, and earned the name “jughead” by his younger brother Alan. Growing up on Buckingham Road in Dayton, Vic was known as the family jokester and for his love of current events and Civil War history.

Vic graduated from Patterson High School and earned a degree in History from the University of Dayton. He worked for two decades at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, frequently traveling for his logistics job but always feeling most at peace at home with his family.

Vic was married for 40 years to his wife, Jo (Siler) Wainscott, who preceded him in death in August 2004. He often said she had the most important job in the world – that of a mother. He spent his last years in Roswell, Georgia, close to family.

Vic is survived by four children and their spouses, Lisa Wainscott of Alpharetta, GA, Michael Victor Wainscott (Cristina Cobian Rojo) of Wilmette, IL, Anne Sargent (Jeff) of Roswell, GA, and Matthew Wainscott (Julie) of Sylvania, OH; grandkids Ryan, Emma, Shane, Sofia, Sean, Victoria, Eric, and Lucas; a younger brother, Alan Wainscott (JoAnn) of Avon Lake, OH, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an older sister and brother, Ramona (Carl) Ruch of Bryan, TX, and Jerry (Janet) Wainscott of Sarasota, FL.

“Our dad lived and died on his own terms. A little over a week before his stroke he was in the ocean on Hilton Head Island and enjoying family dinners with his kids and grandchildren. We will miss him every day but take heart that he is now at peace with our mom.”

The family is planning a small celebration of life later this fall. In lieu of flowers, they request that family and friends enjoy the blessing of quality time with loved ones.
