Mr. Glover “Tommy” Grogan, age 79, passed away August 9, 2021. Tommy was born on June 1, 1942 in Atlanta, GA, and moved to Cumming, GA as a toddler and grew up in Ducktown and lived most of his life on Doc Sams Road.
Tommy was a avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, and football season ticket holder for over 40 years. Game days would find him prior to each game, and sometimes after the game, at “The Grill”, where he still holds the record for eating burgers.
Tommy was a home builder, and also did many other types of construction work where he had a reputation of excellent craftsmanship and quality work, he had a saying that “if you wanted it done quick, get someone else,” because he was not going to rush, and sacrifice quality.
Tommy served in the Georgia National Guard and had a tremendous love for gospel music. He was a talented singer and piano player, he served as song leader at his beloved New Harmony Baptist Church where he was a member for 68 years. He was always interested in what was going on at Church and attended regularly prior to his illness preventing him from attending. He would often want to make sure that he continued to support the Church by asking family members to come by and pick up his offering when he could not come. Tommy loved The Lord and his Church.
Tommy was preceded in death by his Mom & Dad, Steve & Annell Evans Grogan, his grandparents Ross and Maude Tribble Evans, and James and Loulie Dawson Grogan, and his fur buddies, Tinker-bel and Banjo.
