Steven McCullough Obituary

Steve McCullough passed from the arms of his wife and family into the arms of Jesus Friday, October 29, 2021.

Steve graduated from Black River HS and later attended, and graduated, from Pincecrest Bible Training Center where he met his wife, Claire. He and Claire married June 20th, 1987. After graduation he worked at General Electric and was Youth Pastor at Proctorville Assembly of God. He also led Youth Week at Pinecrest for several summers.

He started a home group that grew into New Life Christian Fellowship Church. He also ministered across the U.S. with IAM and traveled as a missionary to South Africa and Jamaica. While in Vermont he and Claire fostered 16 children. In 2003 he felt the call to move to Atlanta, GA where he pastored a home church, ministered to and fed the homeless every Tuesday night while still working with IAM.

When his family started to grow he stepped back from the ministry but not his love of the Lord and helped start a flourishing carpet company. Through a friend he found out about a job opening at Gunter Construction where he thrived. He loved his job and his safety team.

He also loved Northlands Church, his pastors, and everyone he befriended in the church. He loved to worship right up front, hands raised high. He sometimes sang so loud the sound-crew tried to turn up the harmonies before they realized he wasn't part of the music ministry.

He loved to share about Jesus, the scriptures and was always ready to give a prophetic word. Steve never met a stranger, was bold and bigger than life. Everyone knew when he walked into a room. He loved his Lord, his wife and family. He was married to his wife Claire for 34 years. He was an awesome husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond McCullough and survived by his wife, Claire, and their 3 daughters & son-in-law; Naomi Edwards, son-in-law Dakota Edwards, Skylar and Alysha; his mother Doris McCullough, his brother Kevin & wife Teresa, their sons Jonathon, Benaiah, Jared and Micah. As well as his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Ruth & Erwin Gettys plus many much-loved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, their spouses and their children. He was more than an in-law to them, he was brother and sometimes like a father to his nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 6th at 11am, Northlands Church, 6630 Bay Circle Suite A, Norcross, GA 30071. Pastor's Greg Haswell and Tom Borsic will officiate. Entombment will be at 3pm at Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 87 Senic Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 until 11am Saturday morning.
