Ruth Burleson Buckner

Mrs. Ruth Burleson Buckner, 78 of Asheville, N.C. went home to be with the lord at her home on January 16, 2017 after a battle with illness and was surrounded by her loved ones. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County where she lived. She attended Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Garson and Lucille Burleson.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years Gerald Buckner, daughter Tammy Hensley and husband James of Asheville, son Roger Griffin and wife Lynette of Burnsville, Grandchildren Nikki Swarts and husband Travis of Asheville, Candace Thomas and husband Chris of Georgia, Tiphany Branch and husband Bradley of Burnsville, Teena Brooks and husband Stephen Brooks of Hickory, 5 great grandchildren Logan and Londyn Swarts, Caleb Thomas, Paigelyn and Jamey Branch, 2 brothers Robert Burleson and wife Pat of Asheville, Lloyd Burleson and wife Rita of Mars Hill, 2 sisters Maxine Wheeler and late husband Jerry Wheeler of Asheville, Jeanette Metcalf and husband Marvin of Weaverville. She was loved by 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew.

The family will receive friends Thursday January 19, 2017 from 6p to 8p at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home of Mars Hill, N.C. The funeral services will be held on Friday January 20, 2017 at 1p at Blue Ridge Funeral home of Mars Hill, N.C. with Roger Griffin and Chris Thomas officiating. The graveside services will immediately follow the services at the Ashlawn Gardens of Memory in Asheville, N.C. and Junior Hollified will officiate.
