Ramah Harper Obituary

Ramah Lea Simpson Harper, of Atlanta, Georgia, beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday. Her love and laughter, as well as her wisdom and strength, will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen (Bob) Harper, her parents, Charles and Della Simpson, her sister Dorothy Myers and her husband Walt, and her brothers, Bud Simpson and his wife Dorothy, and Dwayne Simpson and his wife Mary.

Ramah is survived by her children, Robert Allen Harper II and his wife Stella Cartee Harper, Rebecca Harper Willis, Keith Charles Harper and his husband James Tola, and Susan Jane Harper.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Avery Allen Harper and his wife Kathy, Robert Wesley Harper and his wife Kimberly, Keith Morgan Harper, Melissa Harper Adams and her husband Will, Taylor Harper and his wife Meredith, Keaton Harper and his wife Leia, Robert Arthur Willis, and Betty Willis Housman and her husband Steve.  In addition, Ramah is survived by thirteen great grandchildren; Katie Ryan, Lindsey Prouty, Hannah Marie and Hayes Harper, Ryland, Brycen and Carrington Adams, Owen, Kate, Jake and Finn Harper, and Sara and Kate Willis. Her one great-great grandchild is Charlie Prouty. Ramah always included Patricia Morgan Harper and Lisa Harper Swann and John Swann as dear members of her family. She is also survived by her brother Richard Simpson and his wife Marilyn, of Hillsdale, Oklahoma, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Knowing that the last thing Ramah would want to do is put to friends or family’s health at risk and in an overabundance of caution, the family has postponed Ramah’s Memorial Service indefinitely until such time that all can gather to celebrate her truly amazing life without any worries or fear.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ramah’s two favorite causes:

Maji Mazuri, a grassroots Kenyan NGO that aims to address the root causes of poverty through education and skill-based programmes. Maji Mazuri USA, Inc., 2542 Bentbrook Drive, Dunwoody, GA 30360, (404) 429-6887.  www.majimazuri.org
Or
First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, her church home of over 56-years. First Baptist Church, 47 Covington Road, Avondale Estates, GA 30003, (404) 294-5284.  www.afbc.com
Or to your favorite charity or cause.
