Rachel Irene (Dumas) McCrary

Rachel Irene Dumas McCrary, 84, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 with beloved family by her side.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. The family will receive friends at 10:00am prior to the service. Rachel will be laid to rest with a private graveside burial in Forsyth, Georgia.

Rachel was born in Lamar County, the daughter of the late Jesse Hardy Dumas and the late Irene Bowden Dumas. Rachel spent the majority of her early life as a resident of Forsyth. She attended Mary Persons High School and was part of the 1957 graduating class.

By 1958, Rachel was a resident of Macon. Her first job was working for the Grand Lodge of Georgia F&AM (6 yrs). Most of her career was with Burgess Carpet One (22 yrs) and Macon Carpet Center (3 yrs).

Rachel was a dedicated member of Vineville Baptist Church for almost 65 years. She was  very active with the Rebekah Sunday School Class and the XYZ Club.

Rachel is survived by sons Steve McCrary of Macon and David McCrary of Juliette; daughters Tina Spradlin of Jacksonville, FL and Michelle McCrary of Lilburn; granddaughter Taylor Daniel, grandsons Chad McCrary and Cody Spradlin; 4 great grandchildren; Brothers Denny (Anita) Dumas and Charles (Patricia) Dumas all of Forsyth; Sister Rita Misinco of St. Simons Island.
