Ondrae Gwendolyn (Norrell) Taffar

Ondrae Norrell Taffar, known affectionately to many as Nanny, peacefully departed this life on July 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. Ondrae was born in Morganton, GA, she was raised in the Coal Mountain area of Forsyth County, GA  alongside her four sisters. Ondrae married Roger Lane Taffar of Dawsonville and they resided most of their lives in Gainesville, GA, where they lovingly raised their three daughters.

Ondrae was cherished for her renowned cakes and her unwavering love for others, always offering treats and kindness to those she welcomed into her home. She lived a life devoted to her family and her faith, embodying Christian virtues of compassion and generosity to all.  Her legacy of love and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Lane Taffar, parents Lola Crawford Conley and Thomas Watson Norrell,  sister Trentha Holtzclaw, in-laws William and Aline Taffar, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Dottie Taffar, Jimmy and Shirley Taffar and brother-in-law Jerel Taffar. 

Ondrae is survived by her three daughters Connie & Jerry Reeves, Chris & Don Westray, Carol & Rick Snyder, six grandchildren Heath Westray (MaryAnn), Anna Snyder, Hailey Blackstock (Matthew) ,Trey Snyder (Heather),  Kelsey Taylor (Joe), Beau Reeves, as well as four great-grandchildren Beckham and  Abel Blackstock, Ondie and Maclyn Taylor. Sisters, Carolyn Thomas, Latrell Samples (Pat) Thyra Williams (Billy) brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Louise Taffar, sister-in-law Claudia Taffar and a number of nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service celebrating Ondrae's life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 2:00pm, Bethel Methodist Church,100 Lumpkin Campground Road S., Dawsonville, GA 30534. Revs. Don Westray and Heath Westray will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30pm until the service hour. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trey Snyder, Beau Reeves, Joe Taylor, Matthew Blackstock, Cody Westray and Cole Westray.
