Myra Smith Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Almira (Myra) Zelda Bransford Smith on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 89 after a long and happy life filled with fun, family and friends.

Born June 15, 1935 in Atlanta Georgia at home, she was the beloved daughter of Zelda Ophelia Martin Bransford and James Conn Bransford. She was named after her grandmother Annie Almira Rodgers Bransford who helped deliver her and her mother Zelda.  Myra graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School in 1953. She loved math just like her mother and politics like her father. She met her husband, Jack Lamar Smith on a blind date at Smith High School Junior Senior prom and dinner at the Varsity in 1953 and after a whirlwind romance they were later married October 23, 1953. It was love at first sight. She lived her whole life in the Atlanta area except for a brief period when she lived with her new husband when he was stationed at Fort Sill Army base during the Korean War.

Throughout her life, Myra loved to swim, play tennis, talk politics, travel around the USA and the world, and most especially visit with family and friends. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her beauty, warmth, laughter and generosity.

Myra was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She is survived by her 3 children Jeffrey Smith (Dorothy), Julie McIver (Gregg) and Kristy Smith-Guerrucci (Paul); 6 grandchildren Katie Green (Chris), Ryan McIver (Melissa), Kellyn Flanagan (Ryan), Keegan McIver (Mandy), Haley Smith (Hunter) and Chelsie Baker (Aaron); and 15 great-grandchildren Bella Green, Farrah Green, Julianne Green, Remy Green, Hollis McIver, Smith McIver, Lane McIver, Scottie McIver, Aila McIver, Wyatt McIver, Elsie McIver, Connor Flangan, Kinsley Flanagan, Lynlee Smith and Charlie Baker who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by Sister in Law Patty Bransford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Jack, mother Zelda and father Conn, son Daniel, brother James and great granddaughter Hallie. She is with them all as well as the rest of her family and friends forever in heaven.

Her family will receive friends to celebrate her life on September 18, 2024 from 10:00a - 12:00p at Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Drive Woodstock, GA 30188 followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery, 10993 Alpharetta Hwy Roswell, GA 30076.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to American Cancer Society or a donation to Donald J.Trump’s 2024 re-election.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Rest in peace, Myra, Mom, Grandmother and Grandy.
