Mrs. Melba Jean Kidd, age 85 of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully on December 1st, 2016 at her residence, with her family by her side.
Melba Jean was born in Colombia, Tennessee June 24th, 1931 and soon after placed in the Tennessee Children's Home. A few years later she was adopted by Byrd and Agnes Acuff who insisted on adopting a girl with blue eyes and blonde hair. She was the youngest of four sisters and one brother.
After graduating with social honors from Dasher Bible School, Melba Jean met and married the love of her life Jerome M. Kidd on June 3rd, 1950. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters. She was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Noel Kidd on March 1995 and her husband Jerome M. Kidd May 2008.
Melba Jean was a loving mother and wife, devoted friend and a smart business woman. She opened many successful businesses, but one that stood out was "Country Collections" in the barn of her Farmhouse near Peachtree City. From there she took a leap of faith and bought the downtown area of Warm Springs, GA, where she is best known for renovating and bringing new life back to a sleepy little town.
There are no words that can adequately describe the extent of the impact she had on those who had the great honor and privilege of knowing her. Melba Jean was the epitome of a true Southern Lady; full of grace and charm, kindness and affection; always attentive to the needs of others. She exuded a special warmth, never meeting anyone who left her presence feeling like a stranger, and she was always the first to actively volunteer whatever she had or lend a hand. She lived her life to please others, giving of herself generously and unconditionally. She would light up a room by her simple presence. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and compassion for others, will never be forgotten. Through Melba Jean's eyes she only saw the beauty and goodness in everything. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 " Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you."
Melba Jean is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathy Loyd and son-in-law Terry Loyd, Melanie Upchurch and son-in-law Mike Upchurch. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandy Shearouse, Ashley Loyd, Brandon Upchurch, Blake Upchurch and great-grandchildren: Joshua Shearouse and Kristen Shearouse.
