Luke Thomas Burgess, age 18, of Canton, Georgia, departed this life on August 4, 2025. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend - a bright light in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Born on February 22, 2007, Luke brought immeasurable joy to his family from the very beginning. He recently graduated from Cherokee High School and had just begun working the next chapter of his life, working at Wilbanks, where he had already formed meaningful new friendships.
Luke had a deep love for his Mustang GT - he took great pride in working on it, learning about it, and caring for it. He was passionate, determined, and hands-on. Whether it was on the basketball court under the hood of his car, or with his fellow Scouts, Luke led with heart and humility. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and his presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Heather Robertson Jump; his brother Brent Burgess; and his sister Jessey Burgess. He is also cherished by his grandparents, Pandora and Kit Farr (known lovingly as Granma and Granpa), and Robby and Shelia Robertson (MeeMaw and PeePaw). Luke will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, many dear cousins, extended family members, countless friends, and fellow Scouts.
To celebrate Luke's life the family will receive friends Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4:00p to 8:00p at Canton First Baptist, 1 Mission Point, Canton, GA 30114 and they will receive friends again on Friday, August 8th from 12:00p to 1:45p at the church. His funeral will be Friday, August 8 at 2:00p at Canton First Baptist, 1 Mission Point, Canton, GA 30114. Pastor Cliff Pace & Rev. Michael Lusk will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 4967 Fincher Rd., Canton, GA 30114. All who knew and loved Luke are welcome to attend.
