Larry Watt Obituary

Larry Ward Watt, 84, of Dawsonville, GA, passed away at home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Recently, he relocated from Monroe, NC, to Georgia to be closer to his beloved family. Born on February 14, 1941, in Ontonagon, MI, Larry's warmth and spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

Larry, cherished father and friend, was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Edith Watt, his beloved wife, Sarah L. (Evans) Watt, who passed away in 2008, and his grandson, Larry Michael Watt, who left us in 2007.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in his children: Deborah D. Huff and her husband Kip, Kimberly W. Piter and her husband Zdenek, Larry E. Watt and his wife Christine, Cynthia R. Ward and her husband Simon, and Michael J. Watt and his wife Amy. He was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A master electrician by trade, Larry dedicated his career to major industrial and commercial enterprises, always ensuring that his family was well provided for. His journey began in the Navy, where he served with pride, both in active duty and reserves. Larry was part of the team aboard the ship for the NASA capsule recovery and during the Cuban missile crisis blockade, showcasing his unwavering commitment to service.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry found joy in flying as a private pilot, fishing, playing chess, and watching old Western movies. His ability to repair anything, from a 1930s tractor to modern computers, was a testament to his love for technology and problem-solving.

Larry's intelligence was matched only by his humility and fairness. His presence will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him and felt the warmth of his character and the strength of his friendship.

Larry preferred no formal service. Instead, he would encourage everyone to gather at a pub to celebrate his life. Raise a glass in his memory—cheers!
