Kathleen Dore Obituary

Kathleen L. Dore of Alpharetta, GA passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 after a brief illness at the age of 88.

Kathy was born in 1932 in Baltimore, MD.  In 1954, she graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University earning a Bachelors of Arts in French.  Kathy then married James Dore of Newark, NY in 1960 who was stationed with the Army in Baltimore at that time.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty years, Jim, and her brother George, of Baltimore, MD.  Kathy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Jamie and Wendy Dore, grandchildren Erika and Christopher; Greg and Teresa Dore, grandchildren Elisa, John, and Cecilia.

Kathy enjoyed and excelled at painting, cooking, sewing, and travel.  Her art and gourmet cooking was treasured by her friends and family.  She also was a devoted volunteer in her church community most notably at St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP).  Kathy held multiple jobs but primarily enjoyed being an elementary school teacher and homemaker.  After raising a family in Trumbull, Connecticut she and Jim moved to South Carolina.  There she found a love of the low-country, its beaches, and the vibrancy of Charleston.  Later she and Jim resided in Big Canoe and Suwanee, Georgia to be closer to their immediate family.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday May, 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at her parish St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are welcome at St. Brigid - SVdP Ministry. 3400 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022 or https://saintbrigid.org/ministries/outreach/st-vincent-de-paul/ Attn: N. Bain
