Judy Elaine (Landers) Hayes

Mrs. Judy Elaine Landers Hayes of Canton, GA passed away October 20, 2021 at the age of 74. Judy was an incredible lady, a mentor and inspiration to everyone. She had a compassionate heart with a steel backbone, and gave of herself to anyone in need. After retiring from a 30-year career in nursing, Judy loved being an active member in her church and a member of the Hickory Flat Optimist Club. Being the daughter of a Baptist Minister, church participation came easily for Judy. She and her late husband were instrumental in the organizing of Cherokee Christian Fellowship.  

More than anything, Judy loved the beach, especially Panama City Beach, and all things related to it. Even after two hip replacements, she had to put her toes in the ocean at least twice a year, watch for dolphins playing in the waves, and eat at Pineapple Willie’s. She was also an avid reader (her favorite authors were Stephen King and Pat Conroy) and she took great pleasure in spoiling all of her pets, most recently her (late husband Jerry’s) cat Tuesday.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wayne Hayes, her beloved Japanese Chin Sukoshi, and her parents Izetta and Kip Landers. She is survived by her daughter Nikki Pavlides and husband Paul Pavlides, step-daughter Ellen Jones and husband Tommy Jones, and grandchildren Thomas, Heather, Justin, Ryan, Sophie, Alex and Nicholas. 

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 25, 2021 at 7pm, Lakeside Funeral Home Chapel, 121 Claremore Dr. Woodstock, GA 30188. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will take place Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cherokee Humane Society.
