Judy D. Riggs Gomez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy D. Riggs Gomez on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 79.
Born November 30, 1944 in Maryville, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of Madeline Carter Riggs and Carl Riggs. Judy graduated from Carlisle High School in 1962 in Carlisle, Ohio. She eventually moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she spent the rest of her life. She graduated from Excelsior University as an RN and practiced nursing for many years at Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale, Georgia.
Throughout her life she loved to cook, read, travel and create arts and crafts. She fiercely loved her family and friends. Everyone who knew her was touched by her warmth, laughter, generosity and beauty.
Judy was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her daughter Angela Cusick (Patrick), and two grandchildren - Madeline and Noble Cusick. She is also survived by sisters Peggy Choate and Margie Mynatt, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Frank Gomez, mother Madeline, father Carl, brother Charles, and sisters Virginia, Patsy and Carolyn. She is at peace with her loved ones in the arms of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held on October 19, 2024 at Broadway Baptist Church in Maryville, TN, at 1:00 pm. A reception will be held immediately after the service at New Hope Baptist Church, 605 Dotson Memorial Rd, Maryville, TN 37801.
