Jonathan Eric King

Jonathan Eric King, age 56, of Crossnore, NC died on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Eric graduated from Southgate Anderson High School in Southgate, MI where he ran track and played basketball. Outside of school he was active in the youth group at Calvary Baptist Church, where he forged many meaningful relationships, always willing to pray for others and lend a word of encouragement.  Later, Eric served in the US Army: He completed basic training in Georgia, then was stationed in Germany. He remained in the reserves during Desert Storm and was stationed stateside.

His goal all along had been to pursue higher education so he went on to complete a bachelor's degree in education and then a master's degree in library science, both from Appalachian State University. Most recently he worked at Crossnore School & Children's Home as a house parent. 

Eric's keen perception, wonderful sense of humor, and infectious laugh will be dearly missed by surviving friends and family. 

A memorial service will be held with family on Saturday, June 19th @11am at Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery in Spruce Pine.
