Jerry Allen Lancaster, age 72, of Clermont, GA, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. He left a beautiful legacy of love after a full life devoted to his faith, his family, his friends, sharing the Gospel, and helping everyone he met along the way.
Jerry was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Ray and Esther Boyer Lancaster. He attended Cornell College and graduated from the University of Iowa. After working in the oil business for several years he was transferred to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where he met a young widow from Georgia who became his wife and was the love of his life.
Jerry and his wife, Gail, lived in the Valley and raised their family for the next 24 years. His career in fuel sales & service to farmers revealed a love of growing crops so he began working as fresh produce broker. He grew, bought, sold and arranged transportation of fruits, vegetables & other products to companies, restaurants, hospitals, etc. During that time he felt God’s call on his life and became a bi-vocational minister after attending Texas Baptist Seminary. He organized & went on numerous missions trips to Mexico as well other U.S. states.
Jerry moved with his family back to Gail’s hometown of Thomasville, GA in 1995 to care for Gail’s parents after the death their son, Larry. In 2012, Jerry & Gail moved to North GA to be near their daughter, Abby, and her family, where they have remained - basking in the love of family and friends.
Jerry has always had a deep love of nature - God’s creation - the great outdoors - fishing, camping, hunting, & boating as well as gardening & canning to share his produce with others. His generosity was legendary and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by Gail (his wife of 46 years), his daughter, Abigail (Matt), his granddaughters, Faith (Clay), Annabel (Parker), Raygan, his grandson, Daniel, and his great-grandson & namesake, Beau Allen. He is also survived by his father, Ray, his brother, Dennis, his sister, Kathy (Curt) Lockhart and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther, his daughter, Tara Kaye, and his brother-in-love, Larry Phelps.
A celebration of life will be held 3:00p on Sunday, May 24, 2026 with 2:00p visitation at Christian Hill Baptist Church, 5833 Gailey Drive, Hwy 129 N Clermont, GA 30527.
A reception will be held following the service to receive friends and family at Monkey Doodle Acres Farm, 6539 Ransom Free Rd., Clermont, GA.
