Jeffrey Stewart Ballew was born on January 23, 1973, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to Carlson and Delorise Ballew. He passed away on September 4, 2025.
Jeff graduated from South Forsyth High School, where he was a proud member of the golf team. He went on to attend Southern Polytechnic State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Over the course of his career, Jeff worked in construction and engineering, finance and mortgage services, and later served the City of Cumming in the Planning and Zoning office.
Jeff was married to Lynn Wood, and together they shared a son, Christian Ballew. He was also a devoted stepfather to Erica and Aaron Wood.
Jeff and Christian shared a special bond and enjoyed spending time together fishing, playing football, listening to music, shooting, riding four-wheelers and motorcycles, cooking, dining out, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Carlson and Delorise Ballew; his brother, Jason Ballew; his son, Christian Ballew; his grandson, Cooper Ballew; his aunt and uncle, Dickie and Kay Carter; his uncle, Benny Ballew; his aunts, Marilyn Barrett and Linda Werner; and many cousins. On his mother’s side: Renee Sherk, Denise Yeager, Cherie Barrett, and Byron Werner.
Jeff’s legacy of kindness continues even after his passing, as he chose to be an organ donor—an act of generosity that has the potential to help up to 70 people.
