Howard Lee Day

Mr. Howard Lee Day, age 75, of Cumming, GA earned his heavenly wings Tuesday June 1, 2021 after a life-long battle with CIDP a form of MS.

Howard was a devoted husband with a great love for God and his family. He was also dedicated to his community as a retired Firefighter from the Dekalb County Fire Department. He fought CIDP, a debilitating disease, since he was 16 with dignity and courage never complaining, and really had no patience with anyone who did complain. No one should ever tell him he couldn’t do something because he would give a 150% trying!

Howard really enjoyed teaching Sunday School and did so for many years, as well as serving as a substitute teacher at our local high school. Eighteen years ago he became a mentor to a third grader named Steven Bryant. This was one of the greatest times in Howard’s life, enjoying his time with Steven who is now 26 years old and graduated from college in 2019. They remained close throughout Steven's life. Howard was always giving back, he got the greatest blessing in helping others less fortunate than himself, because he considered himself very fortunate. He will be truly missed!

He is preceded in death by his parents, W.V. And Evelyn Day and his Brother-in-Laws, Ronald Anglin and Norman Cobb. Surviving are is wife of 48 years, Brenda Cobb Day, Siblings, Albert and (Jane) Day of Dawsonville, Beverly Anglin of Cumming, Rita and (Dan) Booker also of Cumming, Sister-in-law, Darlene Echols, Brother-in-laws, Wesley (Linda) Cobb, Lanier (Verlene) Cobb, Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Visitation will be at The First Baptist Church, 1597 Sawnee Dr., Cumming, GA 30040 from 11:00a to 1:00p on Saturday, June 5th with a service to immediately follow. Scott Huskins will officiate. Internment will be at Haw Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1405 Haw Creek Rd, Cumming, GA 30041. Pallbearers will include: Cameron Day and Steven Bryant
