Mrs. Frances J Newton, age 90, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on September 16, 2022.
Frances was born in Opelika, Al and was a member of Watoola United Methodist Church in Opelika. She loved to work in her garden and crocheting for others. She was President of the Ambassadors of Georgia Power; a member of the Citizens of Georgia Power; a member of the Ride Home, Rolling Thunder and the Korean War Ex-POW’s. She was also a volunteer driver for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Newton, her parents Ann Conant and John Jenkins, her brothers Richard Jenkins and Ellis Jenkins, and her great grandson Declan Charles MacAllister.
Survivors include her two daughters Deborah Swann (Ray) of Fayetteville, GA and Dorothy Smith (Jeff) of Gainesville, GA; five granddaughters including Ashley Simpson (Anthony Hakmati) of Lithia Springs, GA, Kristie MacAllister (Jessica) of Milton, GA, Kellyn Flanagan (Ryan) of Smyrna, GA, Laura Simpson of St Simons, GA and Haley Downing (Brett) of Dawsonville, GA; two grandsons including Bryan Swann (Julie) of Decatur, GA and Brandon Swann (Sydney) of Senoia, GA; seven great grandchildren including Connor and Kinsley Flanagan, Mackenzie and Callum MacAllister, Jackson, Taylor and Leo Swann; her sister Glenda Eubanks (Tex) of Opelika, AL., sisters-in-law June Jenkins and Jennie Lowery of Opelika, Al; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held September 19, 2022 from 6p to 8p at Lakeside Funeral Home,121 Claremore Dr, Woodstock, GA. Graveside services for Frances will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 1p, Westview Cemetery,1680 Westview Dr SW, Atlanta, GA.
