Faye Fancher Obituary

Faye Knight Fancher, born June 15, 1935, in House, Mississippi, went to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2024.

Faye grew up in Louisville, Mississippi, where she met her future husband, Emmett. After graduating high school, Faye attended Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi until transferring to Mississippi College in Canton, Mississippi to be with Emmett. She completed her degree and graduated in January 1957. Just prior to this, she and Emmett were married on December 23, 1956. Faye and Emmett moved to Houston, Texas, where Emmet began his accounting career with Ernst & Ernst while Faye began her career teaching high school business communications. After seven years of teaching, Faye decided to stay at home and begin raising a family.

Faye was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and His church. For many years, Faye, Emmett, and their boys attended Westbury Baptist Church in Houston where they were active in Sunday School, the church choir, and helping lead the high school youth group. In addition to being active in the choir, Faye played handbells in the church handbell choir – she traveled with the choir to many venues and churches across Texas and surrounding states. Faye loved to sing and make music and continued to sing in church choirs after moving to Metropolitan Baptist Church and, ultimately, Second Baptist Church of Houston. Faye and Emmett moved to Southlake, Texas in 2015 where they lived near Jeff and his family after selling their home in Spring, Texas. After Emmett’s death, Faye moved to Roswell, Georgia, in 2019 where she lived near Don and his family until her death.

Faye is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emmett Fancher, parents, Joseph Lavelle and Faithy Knight, her brother, Jeff Edward Knight, and her oldest grandson, Andrew Parkes Fancher. She is survived by her son, J. Donald Fancher and his wife Tess and their children, William Joseph Fancher and Tate Littleton Fancher, as well as her son Jeff David Fancher, his wife, Linda, and their children Lauren Holly Fancher and Lindsey Nicole Fancher.

Faye will be buried at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas, on March 2, 2024. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 for friends and family that wish to attend.
