Evelyn Lucille (Glisson) Albee, age 78, of Dunwoody and Alpharetta, GA, died peacefully in hospice care on September 20, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
Lucille, who went by “Luc”, was born in Atlanta on July 7, 1946, to the late Frances Scudder and Charles Stedman Glisson Jr. She was raised in Atlanta, and spent her childhood summers in the North Georgia mountains at Lake Burton. Her love for the lake and mountains endured over 70 years and is shared by her children and grandchildren.
She graduated from Westminster High School in 1964 where she was a cheerleader and school mascot. She continued her education at Randolph Macon College, earning an education degree in 1968. She married her lifelong love, Dr. Robert B. Albee, on August 19, 1968
A fabulous cook and eager host, her gift of hospitality was a blessing to all. She loved travel and gardening, and delighted in the beauty of God’s creation. Luc was a member of Dunwoody Community Church, where she was heavily involved in the women’s ministry. She and Bob hosted countless Bible study groups, and she taught at many women’s retreats, sharing her love of Jesus and the wonder of His creation.
She was ever present at family events to cheer, transport, and encourage her children and grandchildren. The ‘Dunwoody Express’ school carpool is legendary for the joy and encouragement she shared. She was an avid volunteer who supported dozens of efforts that met specific needs and brought beauty to others
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Robert B. of Alpharetta; her children, Todd (Kristine) Albee of Roswell Ga; Ryan (Edward) King of Roswell Ga; siblings Charles “Steddy” (Julia) Glisson III of Clarkesville Ga; John Glisson of Niceville Fl; grandchildren Charles Albee, Jackson Albee, Patrick Gibson, Samuel Albee, Liam Gibson, Colin Gibson, Joseph Albee and Eden Albee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Glisson.
A memorial service for Luc is scheduled for 2:30pm on Sunday October 6th at Dunwoody Community Church, 2250 Dunwoody Club Dr, Atlanta, GA.
