Ernesto Parra

Ernesto Parra, son of the late Antonio and Blanca Parra, was born in Bogota, Colombia on December 23, 1938. He departed this life on January 30, 2021 after an 18 month battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Ernesto married his soul mate, Gloria Beatriz in Bogota, Colombia, on January 18, 1964 and they recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Ernesto and Gloria had 4 children; Carlos of Jacksonville, FL, Claudia of Acworth, GA, Natalie of Marietta, GA and Ivan of Latham, NY.

Ernesto began his career in Bogota as an accountant. He moved his family to White Plains, NY in 1982 to be closer to his brother and sisters. He worked hard and provided everything his family needed to help them achieve personal and professional success. In 2005 he relocated to Acworth, GA and resided with his oldest daughter. Ernesto was described as loving, fun, kind, generous, hard working and passionate. When he wasn't reading a James Patterson novel or watching his favorite latin shows, he was watching his favorite sports teams: Millionarios (soccer), NY Yankees, and NY Rangers. He loved the country where he grew up and never let anyone forget it by proudly decorating his room in yellow, blue and red, the colors of the Colombian flag. Ernesto's family and friends also fondly remember his delicious empanadas, a recipe and technique he was happy to share. 

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fernando Parra and Isabel Minehan. He is survived by his sister Maria Antonia Latorre of Northern California. He also leaves behind his wife, 4 children, their spouses Arelis, Joe, Andrew, Tobi and 9 grandchildren: Michael, Vanessa, Alexis, Nolan, Ana, Olivia, Emma, Leo and Madison.
