Edward John Brucks

Edward John Brucks, 78, of Marietta, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 19, 2018.

Ed was born on August 5, 1939 in Chicago to the late Edward A. and Mary (Cuff) Brucks. He was preceded in death by his brother James P. Brucks (Karen Haskins). On June 26, 1965 he married Beth O'Donnell at St. Germaine parish in Oak Lawn,IL.

Ed worked as an insurance agent for Connecticut Mutual and as a Broker until 2001. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Spokane in the Nike Hercules program 1962-64.He graduated from Notre Dame University with a major in finance in 1961 and Leo High School in 1957.

Loving father of Thomas (Zailee) Brucks, Robert (Beth) Brucks, Jeanne (Reggie) McCoy, and Monica Brucks; adored grandfather of Danielle, Victoria and Will; cherished brother of Marianne (Don) Hartmann, Ken (Christine Frisoni) Brucks, Cathleen (Richard) Barry, Bill (Kathy) Brucks, Joan (Jim) Topor, and brother-in-law of Karen (Haskins) Brucks.

He will be remembered as a daily Mass communicant, Holy Family parish and Transfiguration for the past 32 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, an avid Cubs fan who lived to see the 2016 World Champions!, and a founding member of the "tunnel on the field" at Notre Dame football games!

A funeral mass will be conducted Friday, June 8th at 10:30a at The Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, 1815 Blackwell Rd. Marietta, GA 30066. Military graveside rites will be conducted at 1:00p at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30a until the service hour at the church.
