Edna Wynelle (Whisnant) Nichols

Edna Wynelle Nichols "Wendy", age 86, of Hickory, NC passed into the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ on October 18, 2022. 

Wendy was born to the late Arthur Harvey Whisnant Sr. and Myrtice Lee Berry.

She was a retired teacher from Burke County Schools who had a passion for mentoring and educating students. She was a long time member of Warlick's Baptist Church. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Arthur "Art" Whisnant Jr., brother in-law Lee Shook, and grandson Samuel Everette Nichols.

She is survived by her sister Renaye Shook, brother Berry Whisnant (wife Peggy), sister-in-law Judy Whisnant, her two sons Nick Nichols, Wiley Nichols (wife Robin), her grandchildren Jeremiah Nichols (wife Hillary), Zach Nichols (wife Jalen), Taylor Nichols (wife Mackenzie), Ashley Williamson (husband Shawn), step-grandchildren Brittney Davis (husband Ryan), Kaylee Lineberger (husband Damion), six great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She had a special cousin, Sharon Baker, whom she always thought of as another sister. 

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday October 26, 2022, 11:00a at Warlick's Baptist Church, 2684 Warlick's Church Rd, Connelly Springs, NC 28612. The Rev. Gary Murry will officiate. Internment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11a at the church.
