Dewey Lee "Pete" Holden, age 89, of Canton, GA passed away on June 26, 2023.

Pete was born on June 28, 1933 to Aus & Cora Holden in Cherokee County, Ga. 

Pete enlisted into the United States Army in the 1950s. He served multiple years as the military police. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career as a truck driver. He nearly visited all 50 states.  

In 1956, Pete met Shirley. They went on to have five children together, Sue, Lori, April, Matt, and Nancy.

Pete spent his time woodworking, enjoying bluegrass concerts, drawing pictures of The Holy Land, playing Sega Genesis, watching westerns, spending time with his family, and reading God's Word.

Pete was predeceased by his wife, Shirley, brother, Holbert, children, Matt and Lori, and grandson, Daniel. He is survived by his daughters, Sue Holden, April (Eugene) Lowe, and Nancy Holden of Ball Ground, Ga. His ten grandchildren, Jessy (Emily) Holden, Andrew (Mandy) Holden, Amber (Zach) Murphy, Eli Holden, Joe Casey, Josh (Channon) Casey, Laura (Craig) Dalton, William (Ciara) Ridings, Cody Ridings, and Katie Jordan, seventeen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

A viewing will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home, 121 Claremore Dr., Woodstock, GA on Wednesday, July 5th from 2p-5p. The graveside service with military honors will take place at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA on Thursday, July 6th at 11a.
