Mrs. Betty Jean Watson, 86, passed away July 29, 2017 in Marietta, GA.
Betty was born in Mullens, WV to Mabel and Gilbert Robinette on August 12, 1930. Betty graduated from Mullens High School and completed nursing school at Mountain State Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.
After meeting at a YMCA dance in 1952, Betty was married to Jason C. Watson for 64 years. She was an incredible and loving mother and grandmother and a devoted, caring nurse. She was lovingly known as "Bert" to her family.
Betty was the Operating Room Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing at Charleston Area Medical Center for 30 years.
Betty retired to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1987 where she resided for 30 years. Betty loved children and volunteered as the Children's Director for the Community Bible Study for several years at First Baptist Church of Hilton Head. She was a member of a local prayer group. Betty enjoyed reading, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and studying the Bible.
Betty is survived by her spouse, Jason C. Watson, her brother Jack Robinette, her children Pamela Jean Leitner, Linda Ann Huff, and Thomas J Watson, her son in laws William Leitner and Bill Huff, her grandchildren, Ashley Leitner Belt (Brett Belt), Bruce Leitner, Peyton Leitner, McKenna Leitner, Austin Watson, Madison Huff, Ansley Huff, Lindsey Huff, Stephanie Rae (Cash Rae) and her great grandchildren Betty Grace Belt and Landyn Rae.
Funeral services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton GA on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10 a.m.
