Barbara “Bobbie” Gilleland Obituary

Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Gilleland, born September 17, 1934, passed away in her home in Milton, GA on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Bobbie is finally reunited with the love of her life, Roger Gilleland, her late husband of 61 years. Their life together was a true testament to the love they shared as it was full of adventures and moments spent with family and friends. Bobbie cherished family gatherings centered around home cooked meals she had prepared. She received much joy in watching over and caring for those who frequented her home over the years. Bobbie could always be found in the middle of any gathering making sure everyone was cared for, whether it be at the church, the campground, or her home. She took great pride in being someone that others could count on no matter the need. Bobbie was not only loving and reliable, but always brought a dose of humor and spunk to any situation. Her zest for life was unmatched.

Bobbie also treasured her church family at Hightower Baptist Church. She spent many years dedicating her time to Sunday school classes and bible school. Bobbie faced her fair share of trials and tribulations in life, but her faith always endured, along with the many relationships she made at Hightower. She greatly enjoyed her time spent in fellowship at the church.

In Bobbie and Roger’s free time, they could often be found on the road traveling the country in their camper. Their travels would almost always be accompanied by their loved ones. No matter the destination, their camping trips always consisted of many loving memories centered around camaraderie, laughter and good meals.

Ultimately, Bobbie’s legacy is one of love – her love for her family and friends, the church and for life. Through her example, she has inspired us all to follow our faith through the many seasons of life. She will be greatly missed by many but is now at peace with her Lord and Savior and the loved ones gone before her.

In addition to her father and mother Dewey & Arzie Williams, Bobbie was preceded in death by her brothers Wendell, Bonnie, Trinnon, and Alton Williams; her beloved husband Roger Gilleland; and her grandson Joshua Gilleland.

Bobbie is survived by her children Tina (Phil) Meers, Tony (Pam) Gilleland, and Trudy Gilleland; grandchildren Shawna (Eddie) Ernst, Crystal (Matt) Bobo, and Matt (Molly) Gilleland; great-grandchildren Carson, Bailey, Brady, Maddux, and Landyn.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 12 noon, Hightower Baptist Church, 3444 Hightower Road, Ball Ground, GA 30107. Reverends Gerral Richards and Ronnie McCormick will officiate. Bobbie’s family will receive friends at the church from 10a until 12 noon on January 19, the day of the service. Burial will be at Georgia National Cemetery on January 24, 2023 at 1:30 pm.
